Representative Muradian Encourages Residents of the 9th Worcester District to Check for Unclaimed Property

March 12th 2019 BOSTON – State Representative David K. Muradian, Jr. (R-Grafton), is encouraging residents of the 9th Worcester District to check for any unclaimed property through the Massachusetts State Treasurer’s Office.

One in ten people will find that they have abandoned property that is unknown to them. The Massachusetts State Treasurer’s Unclaimed Property Division is holding over $2.4 billion in unclaimed funds. This abandoned property will be held until it is claimed by the original owner or their heirs, and includes bank accounts, stocks or dividends, uncashed checks, contents of safety deposit boxes, or insurance policies. Residents can check to see if there is any unclaimed property in their name by going to On average, it takes about 180 days to process a claim. 

“It is important that members within our community have access to this potential money,” said Representative Muradian. “I strongly encourage all residents of the 9thWorcester District to check in with the Unclaimed Property Division and see if there are any abandoned funds in your name.”
