February 12th 2019 BOSTON – House Minority Leader Bradley H. Jones, Jr. (R-North Reading) has appointed State Representative David Muradian (R-Grafton) to serve on the powerful House Ways and Means Committee for the 2019-2020 legislative session.
The Ways and Means Committee is charged with reviewing all legislative proposals that impact the finances of the Commonwealth. One of the committee’s primary responsibilities is producing an annual operating budget to provide local aid for cities and towns, support critical programs and services for the state’s residents, and allocate funding for government departments and agencies.
“David has done an exemplary job serving the residents of the Ninth Worcester District, and I am confident he will continue to advocate for fiscal responsibility and accountability to the state’s taxpayers in his new committee assignment,” said Representative Jones.
“I am pleased to receive my committee assignments from the Minority Leader,” stated Representative Muradian. “I look forward to working with my colleagues on Ways and Means, as well as my other important committees, to tackle issues that are not only relevant to the 9th Worcester District, but the Commonwealth as a whole.”
In addition to being named to the Ways and Means Committee, Muradian has been re-appointed to the Joint Committee on Public Safety and Homeland Security, where he will hold the title of Assistant Ranking Minority Member, and the Joint Committee on Elder Affairs. He has served on both committees since 2017. The Grafton legislator has also been named a member of the House Committee on Global Warming and Climate Change.
Muradian represents the Ninth Worcester District communities of Grafton, Northbridge and Upton.
