Representative Muradian and Senator Moore Excited to Announce Upton Community Compact IT Grant

June 8th 2016 BOSTON – Representative David K. Muradian, Jr. (R-Grafton), along with State Senator Michael O. Moore (D-Millbury), are excited to announce that the town of Upton has been awarded a grant of $30,016 as part of the Community Compact IT Program.

Shortly after taking office, the Baker-Polito Administration established the Community Compact Cabinet in an effort to further improve the Commonwealth. The Community Compact IT grant is a sector within this cabinet. These funds are expected to help improve communities at a technological level. The grant awarded to Upton will be used to modernize and improve the permit system for all town departments. These changes will help the public apply and track the status of their permits online, limit the amount of time employees must dedicate towards applying these permits, and much more.

“The Baker-Polito Administration continues to support and ensure all communities within the Commonwealth have equal opportunities,”said Representative Muradian. “I am very grateful that the Community Compact IT grant was awarded to Upton, and I believe it will go a long way towards improving our permitting system.”

“As technology leaps forward, communities are continuously faced with the need to reevaluate and upgrade their technological systems in order to provide consistent and accessible services to local residents,” said Senator Michael O. Moore. “The Community Compact IT Grant will enable the Town of Upton to make the system user experience more straightforward, as well as to improve internal communication networks that would make work of government officials more efficient. While improving technological systems may not be something we think about each day, this funding will have a considerable impact on the delivery of government services to the residents of Upton.”
