Representative Muradian Welcomes Lieutenant Governor Polito to District for Community Compact Cabinet Meeting

August 25th 2015 BOSTON Representative David K. Muradian, Jr. (R-Grafton) joined Massachusetts Lieutenant Governor Karyn Polito at the Upton Town Hall today for a meeting of the Commonwealths new Community Compact Cabinet (CCC). The meeting was a discussion between town officials from Grafton, Northbridge, and Upton, as well as Representative Muradian and the Lieutenant Governor and her staff, about what the CCC is and how it can help the communities.

The CCC was created on January 23rd, 2015, as Governor Bakers first executive order, in order to elevate the Administrations partnerships with cities and towns in the Commonwealth. The Cabinet is chaired by Lieutenant Governor Polito and seeks to give municipalities an opportunity to partake in certain policy discussions that potentially could take place and have an effect on how municipal governments function.

It was my pleasure to welcome Lieutenant Governor Polito to Upton to discuss the Community Compact Cabinet, stated Rep. Muradian. The discussion about this important program will help the 9th Worcester district get a seat at the table with state government. Hopefully our communities will continue to take an active role in creating a better government for our citizens.

The CCC advocates for municipal interests among the executive departments, divisions, agencies, and develops with communities established best practices and mutual standards for cities and towns. The creation of community compacts through a partnership between state and local government sets clear standards, expectations, and accountability for both partners, giving cities and towns a clear line of communication to the Administration.

Representative Muradian understands the need for a lean, innovative local government that works as hard as the individuals and families it serves, said Lt. Governor Polito. I am proud to join him for a discussion on the merits and best practices that Grafton, Northbridge and Upton may apply to their Community Compacts.
