June 7th 2017 BOSTON – Representative David K. Muradian, Jr., (R-Grafton) was excited to welcome Millbury Street Elementary School students for a class field trip to the State House on Tuesday, June 6th.
The group of 27 students made up of 3rd through 6th graders, were accompanied by chaperones Kara Whitehead, David Mitchell, and Denise Mossey. Representative Muradian treated the group to a tour of the building, including stops to Nurses Hall, the Grand Staircase and the Great Hall of Flags. The group also took a trip to the House Chamber where the students were able to sit in the gallery and watch as a Portuguese Heritage Day event took place. Following this educational experience Representative Muradian took the time to tell the students some of his favorite facts about the Massachusetts State House; some of which included details about the sacred cod and holy mackerel.
“I am so happy that I was able to welcome such a wonderful group of students to the Massachusetts State House,” said Representative Muradian. “It’s always great to see our youth take an interest in learning more about our democratic system. I particularly enjoyed watching the students make a connection between where they were standing and its significance to Massachusetts.”
After the tour, Representative Muradian made it a point to speak with the students individually and answer all questions.
