Representative Muradian Welcomes Students at Student Government Day

April 7th 2017 BOSTON – Representative David K. Muradian, Jr. (R-Grafton) was excited to welcome students from the 9th Worcester District to the 70th Annual Student Government Day.

On Friday, April 7th, pupils throughout the entire Commonwealth filled the Massachusetts State House to participate in this worthwhile event. Specifically, this occasion allows for students who have excelled academically, to experience the legislative process firsthand. Some highlights from the day include a welcome from the Executive Branch, simulating a Joint Committee Hearing and Executive Session and of course, meeting with your State Representative.

After participating in Student Government Day, Representative Muradian welcomed students from the 9th Worcester District to a personal tour throughout the building. While doing so, he was able to speak individually with each of the students and inquire about their interests. The tour included visits to the Governor’s office, Senate President Office, and a final stop at the Speaker’s Office. Representative Muradian even surprised the students and arranged a private meet and greet with Speaker DeLeo.

“It was wonderful to welcome such an intelligent, energetic, and respectful group of students to the State House,” stated Rep. Muradian. “The building was once occupied and used by some of our Nation’s most prominent historical figures to govern our great Commonwealth. It was particularly exciting to watch the kids make the connection between where they were standing and its significance to the creation of our country.”

Following the tour, the students and their chaperones walked throughout the city and had lunch prior to their journey back to the district.
